Our advisors come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience across various fields, enriching our organization with their unique perspectives. Their support has been instrumental in shaping our research and outreach efforts, helping us to continue making meaningful strides in the field of sexual health.
Organization Founder
Rachel S. Rubin, MD
Dr. Rachel S. Rubin is a board-certified urologist, sexual medicine specialist, and the founder of the Sexual Medical Research Team (SMRT). She received her medical degree from Tufts University and completed her urology residency at Georgetown University. Dr. Rubin pursued advanced fellowship training in sexual medicine under Dr. Irwin Goldstein in San Diego. A respected clinician, researcher, and educator, she holds leadership roles in ISSWSH and serves as associate editor for Sexual Medicine Reviews.
Megan Falsetta, PhD
Dr. Megan Falsetta is an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester with joint appointments in OB/GYN and Pharmacology. She earned her Biology degree at Alfred University and a PhD from the University of Iowa in 2009, focusing on Neisseria gonorrhoeae biofilms. After postdoctoral work on oral biofilms, she shifted to researching vulvodynia, lichen sclerosis, and endometriosis. Her work aims to uncover mechanisms behind genitopelvic pain, improving patient care through new diagnostics, therapeutics, and greater awareness of vulvar diseases.
Jessica Yih, MD
Jessica Yih is a board-certified urologist and Assistant Professor of Urology at University of California, Irvine, where she serves as the Director of Women’s Sexual Health and Male Infertility. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, completed her urology residency at Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Medical Center, and pursued advanced fellowship training in male fertility and sexual medicine for all genders at San Diego Sexual Medicine. Dr. Yih specializes in male and female sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, and male infertility, and currently serves as Chair of the Female Sexual Function Committee for the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, as well as on the editorial board of the Video Journal of Sexual Medicine, with work that bridges clinical care, academic research, education, and national advocacy.
Alyssa Grimshaw
Alyssa Grimshaw provides in-depth research, consultation, and information services for clinical professionals and the health sciences community. She holds an MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University, an MBA in Healthcare Management from Southern New Hampshire University, an MPH from Dartmouth Institute, and a BA in History from the University of Connecticut.
Barry Komisaruk, PhD
Dr. Barry Komisaruk is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Rutgers University-Newark, specializing in the neuroscience of human sexuality. His research focuses on brain responses to genital stimulation, sexual response after spinal cord injury, and therapies for genital-related disorders. He collaborates with leading clinicians and has made significant contributions to understanding the neural pathways of sexual health and pathology.

Maria Uloko, MD
Dr. Maria Uloko is a leading urologist specializing in comprehensive sexual health, reconstruction, and prosthetics. She has trained over 600 physicians globally and is renowned for her pioneering research on clitoral nerves and regenerative treatments for erectile dysfunction. Dr. Uloko is the CEO of MUMD Sexual Medicine Beverly Hills and VUVLAi, and her work has been featured in prominent media outlets such as the New York Times and Forbes.
Ashley Winter, MD
Dr. Ashley Winter is a board-certified urologist and sexual medicine specialist, serving patients on the West Coast through Dr. Rachel Rubin's practice. With a background in biomedical engineering, Dr. Winter completed her medical degree at Rutgers University, followed by a urology residency at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell and a fellowship in sexual dysfunction. She is also an active voice in sexual health on social media.

Alyssa Yee, MD
Dr. Alyssa Yee is a board-certified urologic surgeon and sexual medicine physician at Scripps Clinic in San Diego. She completed a fellowship in sexual medicine in 2022 and received the 2021 Sexual Medicine Society of North America Research Grant. Her interests include sexual pain disorders and reconstructive urology. Originally from New York, she studied architecture at Barnard College and earned her medical degree at SUNY Downstate. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, dancing, and flying trapeze.
